How excited are you about starting your Ion journey? We planned all the steps so you could easily learn your way around the platform until you become an Ion master. 


To start with, here are the 5 stages of your Ion journey:

  • Onboarding, where your Onboarding Analysts will welcome you, provide you with the access you need, and show you around

  • Discovery, where you start learning more about the platform, its features, and how to build interactive experiences

  • Performance, where you dig deeper into how to build valuable experiences using Ion's tools

  • Growth, where you master your Ion skills by learning how to build content from scratch, fully analyze reports, and set up integrations

  • Scale & Optimization, where you keep improving your strategy with the insights you gathered

If you're here, it means you're ready to start the second stage of your Ion journey: Discovery. 

 

This is only the first of the 3 main stages you will go through, which are Discovery, Performance, and Growth―these are where you will do most of your learning process, but you can keep counting on us even after you pass them.

Discovery

Right after you start your Onboarding experience, you jump into the Discovery stage of your Ion journey, where you get to know the platform a little better.

It’s important to be patient when taking these beginner steps: they will lay the foundation for future more complex lessons and training.

In Discovery, the second stage, you will gain a lot of knowledge on how to navigate through the platform and use its main tools. 

Here are a couple of things you can expect to learn:

In the Discovery stage, we cover all the basics that will help you plan successful interactive experiences, from your overall strategy to planning the distribution of your content.


You will also learn how to blend your static and interactive strategies, including how to use static content as a basis to build new experiences.

In the Discovery stage, we also teach you how content is divided within Ion, we share a few best practices for your folder hierarchy and explain how to keep your console organized.

One of the most important things we cover on the Discovery stage is how to navigate the Creative Studio and use its main tools.


The Creative Studio is where the magic happens, so knowing your way around it it’s an important foundation for starting to build amazing experiences in the next stage.

Last but not least, in the Discovery stage, you will learn about all the steps in the interactive content production process. You will know where it starts and where it ends, and that will help you even set up responsibilities for each step among your team.

If it feels like not much, we promise you there’s a lot to cover on each of those topics.

And if it feels like a lot, worry not: we have all the right content to guide you through each step of your journey.

You already know the starting point, which is the Ion Beginner Certification. But after you get this certificate, there’s still some ground to fill before getting to Performance.

Ion Beginner Certification
Yep. This one right here you’re taking right now it’s the first step of the Discovery stage. So congratulations on
a great start!
Platform-focused Training Paths
Besides the certification, we also have amazing training paths on the RockU platform. Before you get to the end of this course, you will get a few recommendations.
Tailored Interactive Tools 
Throughout this certification, you will see a few experiences―Quizzes, Infographics, and much more―to guide you through these initial steps.

All of these topics, content, and steps will lay the foundation you need to get to the Performance stage ready to succeed. 

Performance

After you get through Discovery, you get to the Performance stage of your Ion journey, where you start building amazing result-driven experiences.

You’ll see how everything you learned on Discovery did pave the way for you to dig deeper into planning, design, and data analysis best practices.

In Performance, the third stage, you will gain a lot of knowledge on how to plan, build, and start analyzing interactive experiences on the platform.

Here are a couple of things you can expect to learn:

If in the last stage you learned the basics steps on planning interactive experiences, in the Performance stage we cover how to set up content definitions, and plan content and design for a successful outcome.


You will not only see best practices but get access to editable templates that will help you plan a cohesive strategy.

If in the last stage you learned the steps of the content creation process, in the Performance stage we will cover how to build appealing functional interactive experiences in Ion.


We’ll get our hands on the Creative Studio to build all sorts of content, from simple landing pages to more logic-induced quizzes. You’ll learn basic design hacks, how to use all three tabs on the Creative Studio, and how to fully use the Palette tools. 

Now, one of the most important things we cover in the Performance stage is an introduction to data analysis in Ion.


Measuring data and gathering insights from your experiences is what is going to help improve your strategy constantly and achieve better results from it. In the Performance stage, you will learn the terminology used to measure data in Ion, where to find data, and how to start gathering these insights.

Again, each of these topics covers a lot of different information. But if it already feels like a lot, remember we will have the right content to guide you through each step of your journey.

Here are the different types of content that will help during the Performance stage:
Ion Intermediate Certification
You probably guessed it: this is the first step of the Performance stage as soon as you get there.
Exciting, right?
Platform-focused Training Paths
We also have amazing training paths on the Rock University platform. On the Intermediate Course,
you will get recommendations on a few of them.
Tailored Interactive Tools 
Throughout the Intermediate certification, you will see
a few experiences built to help you improve your Ion abilities even more.
Pretty cool, right? 

 

All of these topics, content, and steps will help you improve your Ion skills, and will take you to that next step and stage: Growth.

Growth

Now, after you get through Performance, you get here, to the Growth stage of your Ion journey, where we help you master your Ion skills.

You’ll dig even deeper into everything you learned on Performance, and learn more about content building, data analysis, and more complex settings in Ion.

In Growth, the fourth stage, you will master building result-driven interactive experiences, and will also learn more about measuring data, gathering valuable insights, and setting up integrations, rules, and much more.

Here are a couple of things you can expect to learn:

If in the last stage you learned how to build appealing functional interactive experiences, in the Growth stage we will cover how to take this ability even further.


We’ll get our hands on the Creative Studio to build experiences from scratch and learn how to set up even the more complex quizzes, assessments, and calculators. You’ll learn advanced design hacks, how to apply custom CSS, and how to master the Palette tools. 

Something else we’ll take even further is data analysis in Ion.


We showed you an introduction on the last stage, but in the Grown stage, we’ll dig deeper into reports, performance gauges, and measuring results. We’ll learn how to analyze the raw data file, other report files, and data from different performance gauges, and how to gather valuable insights from A/B tests, gauges, and reports.

Last but not least, something else that’s important that we cover in the Growth stage is the more advanced settings available in Ion.


At this point, you already know how to build incredible experiences, set up rules, and SEO settings, and even analyze your data. But we’ll also cover how to set up integrations, lookup tables, advanced rules, widgets, scriptlets, and many more.

And this might feel like a lot of complex topics wrapped in one single stage, but trust us: we planned all the right content to guide you through each step of your journey.

And here are the different types of content that will help during the Growth stage:
Ion Advanced Certification
Yep: just like with the past courses, this is also the first step of the Growth stage, as soon as you get there. It helps lay that foundation, right?
Platform-focused Training Paths
We also have amazing training paths on the Rock University platform. On the Advanced Course, you
will get recommendations on a few of them.
Tailored Interactive Tools 
Throughout the Advanced certification, you will see a few experiences built to help you improve your Ion abilities even more.
